Collection: IHHT Training

What is IHHT training?

IHHT (Intermittent Hypoxia-Hyperoxia Training) is an innovative, scientifically studied training method for improving cell function and energy metabolism.
By deliberately alternating between oxygen-poor air (hypoxia) and oxygen-rich air (hyperoxia), the body is stimulated at the cellular level to adapt more efficiently to oxygen.

This principle imitates natural adaptation mechanisms, such as those that occur in altitude training – but in a controlled, safe manner and without physical strain .

How does IHHT training work?

The IHHT training at Respiro Care is performed in a relaxed sitting or lying position:

  • You breathe alternately through a special breathing mask.
    oxygen-depleted air (approx. 10–14%) and
    oxygen-rich air (up to 30–40%)
  • These phases alternate in individually tailored cycles.
  • A session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the program.
  • Oxygen saturation, heart rate, and body reactions are continuously monitored.

The training is painless, non-invasive and extremely well tolerated .

Why is IHHT so effective? – The role of mitochondria

The central mechanism of action of IHHT lies in the activation and regeneration of the mitochondria – the “powerhouses” of our cells.

Scientific studies show:

  • Hypoxic stimuli promote the formation and efficiency of mitochondria.
  • Hyperoxic phases support the regeneration of damaged cell structures.
  • ATP production (cellular energy) can be improved.

Result: More energy, better resilience and improved regenerative capacity at the cellular level.

Scientifically proven benefits of IHHT training

1. More energy & performance

Studies show an improvement in physical performance as well as oxygen utilization (VO₂max).
Ideal for:

  • chronic fatigue
  • exhaustion
  • Decline in performance in everyday life or sports

2. Support of the cardiovascular system

Scientific studies indicate that IHHT:

  • can improve stress tolerance
  • It has positive effects on blood pressure and vascular function.
  • can improve the quality of life for cardiovascular patients

3. Metabolism & Weight Management

IHHT can activate cellular fat metabolism and improve metabolic flexibility.
Particularly relevant for:

  • Overweight
  • metabolic syndrome
  • Insulin resistance

4. Regeneration & Pain Support

Through improved oxygen utilization and cell regeneration, IHHT can:

  • promote regenerative processes
  • positively influence inflammation-associated stress
  • support recovery after exertion

5. Mental Performance & Anti-Aging

Studies suggest that IHHT:

  • can support cerebral blood flow
  • can promote cognitive performance
  • counteracts cellular aging processes

Who is IHHT training suitable for?

IHHT is particularly suitable for people with:

  • Energy deficiency & chronic fatigue
  • Stress levels & burnout symptoms
  • Decline in performance in everyday life or sports
  • metabolic challenges
  • increased need for regeneration

Effective even without physical training – ideal for those with limited resilience.
